Zeenat Aman

Biography

Zeenat Aman was born on 19th November 1951. Her father, Amanullah was writer of Muslim cast and mother was Maharashtrian Hindu Brahmin. She completed her graduation from St. Xavier's College in Mumbai and then went to the Los Angeles for further studies. After completion of education she joined job in Femina as a journalist. Then she moved towards Modeling and was second runner up in "Miss India" Contest. She also won "Miss Asia Pacific" in the year 1970.

Zeenat did her first film named "Hulchal" released in 1971 and directed by O.P. Ralhan. Second film during the same year was "Hungama" with the actor and singer Kishore Kumar but film was not hit at the box office. She performed many roles such as jobless girl in film "Roti Kapada Aur Makan", ambitious girl in "Ajnabee", hooker in "Manoranjan" and some of her hit films were "Hare Krishna Hare Ram", "Prem Shastra", "Dhund", "Chori Mera Kaam", "Chhaila Babu", "Dostana" and the film "Lawaaris".

Zeenat performed many films with Dev Anand. For "Hare Krishna Hare Rama" directed by R.D.Burman, she won two awards Filmfare for Supporting Actress and BFJA Award. Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman's famous films were "Heera Panna" in 1973, "Ishq Ishq Ishq" in 1974, "Prem Shastra" in1974, "Warrant" in 1975 and the film "Darling Darling" released in the year 1977. From these films film" Warrant" was super hit film.

She performed in the film "Satyam Shivam Sundaram" released in 1978 and becomes star but the film didn't do well. This film was directed by Raj Kapoor. She performed Hollywood films such as "Rex Harrison" and "Sylvia Miles" but failed in USA and in India also.

Some of her films released in 1980 were "Insaaf Ka Tarazu" directed by B.R.Chopra and she got Filmfare Award for this film as a Best Actress, "Qurbani" whose story based on love triangle, and drama in "Abdullah" with the actor Sanjay Khan.

Zeenat got married with Mazhar Khan. Both of them have two sons Azaan Khan and Zahaan Khan. Her husband, Mazhar was very ill because of liver problem. She spent all the saving amount for the treatment but Mazhar was died in 1998. Within two years her mother and husband were died and her son got separated. Now days, Zeenat is living with her two sons. She performs very less films. Her latest released film was "Jaana" in 2006.
