Biography
Internet Girl that's what family and friends call Raima Sen, the dusky beauty from Kolkata. Raima Sen, the daughter of Moon Moon Sen and the sister of the more glamorous Riya Sen, has managed to garner attention more for her resemblance to her grandmother, the legendary Suchitra Sen, than anything else. Emulating her grandmother, Raima has managed to gradually make her presence felt as an actress.
Raima made her debut in the film 'Godmother' but was overshadowed by Shabana Azmi's strong presence. She followed it up with another small role in Kalpana Lajmi's 'Daman'. But it was Rituparno Ghosh's 'Chokher Bali' which catapulted her to fame. Her role as the simple Ashalata, which pitted her against Aishwariya Rai, won her many accolades for her acting. She followed that act with another winsome performance in 'Parineeta' directed by Pradeep Sarkar. But again, it was Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan who stole the thunder. The actress made a mark with the film, 'Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd', where she was cast opposite Kay Kay Menon. Back home, in Kolkata, the actress has acted in quite a few Bengali movies and made a mark for herself in Aparna Sen's 'The Japanese Wife' and 'Antarmahal'. Her claim to fame has been gradual but with a good selection of roles, Raima is likely to blossom into a very talented actress.
