Biography
Sanjay Kapoor is a Bollywood actor and the brother of actor Anil Kapoor and producer Boney Kapoor and brother-in-law of actress Sridevi. His sister Reena is married to Sandeep Marwah of Marwah Films & Video Studios and The Asian Academy of Film & Television. He is the son of Surinder Kapoor, who is also a film producer.
He began his career opposite Madhuri Dixit in the film Raja. The film was a box office success and he became a star overnight.
This was followed by many films which flopped or did reasonably well at the box office. Though not as successful as his brother, he has managed to get positive reviewes from the critics and audiences.
He has given excellent performances as a villain playing an obsessive husband to Esha Deol in Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe. This was followed by another villainous role playing a terrorist in the film Qayamat: City Under Threat.
Sanjay could not succeed in Bollywood like his brothers. His first film Prem (1995) was Flop.Later Raja (1995) opposite Madhuri Dixit was a big hit and brought him a lot of fame. His later films bombed at the box office. Sanjay played a cute and decent character named Deepak in Boney Kapoor's Sirf tum. He worked with actress Sushmita Sen and Priya Gill in this movie.
He was also seen playing negative roles in films like Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe as a villainous husband and in Qayamat: City Under Threat as a terrorist. The actor was also seen in the Shahrukh Khan starrer Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), and the multi starrer LOC Kargil (2003). In 2009, he appeared in Luck by Chance by Zoya Akhtar. Sanjay was seen as a director named Ranjit in this film.
He is married to model and jewellry designer, Maheep Sandhu. They have two kids-Shania and Jahann.
