Story
Le Biennale de Venezia and Red Carpet Moving Pictures' Mukti Bhawani is a story of life and death and the preparation of the latter. The film has been directed by Shubhashish Bhutiani.
Rajeev (Adil Hussain) lives a middle class life with his wife Lata (Geetanjali Kulkarni), daughter Sunita (Palomi Ghosh) and father Daya (Lalit Behl). As his father Daya senses his fast approaching death, he wishes to spend the rest of his life in Varanasi's 'Mukti Bhawan', the very place where the old people breathe their last so that their remains can be immersed in the holy water of River Ganges. After Rajeev takes his old father Daya to 'Mukti Bhawan', the latter recalls his olden golden days and even lands up befriending a lady (Navindra Behl). After a few days of staying there, Daya tells Rajeev to return back home, while he breathes his last in 'Mukti Bhawan'.
