Silsiilay is based on a women-centric theme. It's the tale of three women, all of whom are involved in relationships and are trying to find their own individual identities.
Rehana (Tabu) is a Muslim woman whose husband (K.K.) is involved in an extra-marital affair (with Celina Jaitley). Even though she chooses to overlook her husband's infidelity, she eventually has to face it head on.
Riya plays a non-glamorized, no make-up wearing 20 year-old telephone receptionist, who is in one affair after another. She longs to discover tenderness in her relationship with a wealthy suitor, enacted by Ashmit Patel. Meanwhile, her office colleague, Jimmy Shergil, loves her silently. The working girl must decide between the two in a romantic finale, which has a twist in the tale. Nataasha features in an impactful role.
Bhumika portrays a fast-rising bollywood actress who is in a live-in relationship with an ambitious but very flirtatious south Mumbai guy (Rahul Bose) who has a mobile phone in both hands and is always on the move. He is the man who groomer her for a film career.
