His boyish charm and immaculate timing, be it with comedy or action is stuff that has won Madhavan millions of fans across the world. Already a popular face on the small screen, Madhavan was introduced to films by Srinivas, who was an assistant director to Mani Ratnam. With films like 'Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi' 'Alaipayuthey', Madhavan was seen as the next big sensation on-screen.
He made his debut in Bollywood with 'Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein', the Hindi remake of the super hit Tamil movie 'Minnale'. He followed this with another two fun capers with the musical Dil Vil Pyar Vyar and Ramji Londonwaley. Also seen in Ennavale, Pammal Ke Sambandham, Run, Dumm Dumm Dumm and the critically acclaimed, Aaitha Ezhuthu, Madhavan became the undisputed blue-eyed boy down south. With Rang De Basanti Madhavan plays Ajay, the dashing air pilot, engaged to the vivacious Sonia (Soha Ali Khan).
He met Sarita, an air hostess, whom he married in 1999. They had a son, Vedant, in 2005.

In 1997, Madhavan got a chance to be part of a sandalwood talc ad shot by Santosh Sivan. He was recommended by Sivan to Mani Rathnam who was casting for Iruvar but wasn?t selected. He started working in television serials like Saya, Tol Mol Ke Bol, Banegi Apni Baat, Ghar Jamai, and Sea Hawk. He hosted the show Deal Ya No Deal on Sony Entertainment in October 2005.
He was an overnight superstar since then. He has acted in many Tamil Films.
